The Predator V8 versus the Hellcat V8!

The super truck world is getting more and more exciting! The new 2023 Ford Raptor R trucks are reaching their new owners. The truck is packing a 5.2-liter supercharged "Predator" V8 engine with 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque. While the F-150 Raptor started the off-road pickup truck craze around 13 years ago, it was recently outmatched by the V8-powered Ram TRX. The TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged "Hellcat" V8 engine with 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque.

It's the Predator V8 versus the Hellcat V8 main event! We will find out which is the quickest accelerating super truck of them all!

We decided to have some fun and also drag race a standard 2023 Ford Raptor 37 versus the Raptor R. We also brought a GMC Hummer EV truck that we recently put on larger 37-inch tires as well (this is a factory-approved update).

TFLtruck has owned a 2021 Ram TRX for a year and a half (our truck was red). The TRX won countless drag races against every other combustion-powered pickup truck and many high-performance cars as well. It is the reigning champ of internal combustion power. Now, the Raptor R is here to challenge it. Let's see how it goes!

These four trucks combine for a total of 2,852 horsepower and 3,000 lb-ft of torque. Combined these four have a sticker price of $405,000+.

Check out the individual specs!

All four of these pickup trucks were born in Michigan, and they are now battling it out in Colorado. The closed airstrip where we do our quarter-mile testing is at 5,160 feet above sea level. The ambient temperature during this comparison was around 42 F with low humidity and calm conditions.

Spoiler Alert:

Take a look at this table for all of the results!

If you want to know how the electric pickup trucks compare to each other – take a look at this Rivian vs F-150 Lightning vs GMC Hummer EV comparison. It appears that the Hummer EV lost about 0.13 seconds in the quarter-mile by going from 35-inch tires to 37-inch.
