Limited recall for 2021 model Scania trucks in Australia

Apr 25, 2023Apr 25, 2023

Date: 28.09.2022

Scania have requested owners of a range of 2021 G-series trucks get in touch with their dealers after identifying a potential safety issue, which will be fixed for free.

A track rod manufacturing defect has led Scania Australia Pty Ltd to recall 48 trucks in its 2021 model range.

The recall affects the models: G 410 B8x4HZ; G 450 A6x2NA; G 450 A6x4NA; G 500 A6x2NA; G 500 A6x4NA; G 540 A6x4NA.

Scania's recall notice says "due to a manufacturing defect, some track rods (between left and right wheel of the steered axle/s) were manufactured without the slots at the end of it".

"If the slot is missing, the clamping force of the clamp between the ball joint and the track rod will be low. This may result in loss of vehicle control.

"A loss of vehicle control increases the risk of an accident causing serious injuries or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

"Scania Australia will contact all affected owners.

"Owners are advised to contact their Scania dealer or branch as soon as possible to make an appointment to have the repairs carried out, free of charge."

A full list of affected VIN numbers is available on the Australian Vehicle Recall website - here.
